| The Centre of Excellence in Customised Assembly (CECA) opened the new Precision Manufacturing Centre at the University of Nottingham to the pharmaceutical and medical industries on 8th March 2007. The event provided companies with an opportunity to learn about the latest precision manufacturing technologies essential for the high precision fabrication and assembly of medical and bio-medical products. |
|
Key presentations were delivered from multi-million EU and UK funded projects which are currently developing cost effective, sustainable manufacturing solutions to address these problems. This was followed by a tour of the world-class industrial level facility for the manufacture of micro products based within the University of Nottingham.
This new centre of excellence offers industry the opportunity to access breakthrough technologies and customisable manufacturing solutions without the need for high investment costs. The facilities are available for projects, ranging from research and development of new product designs and manufacturing techniques, to pilot production of low-volume, high value products, as well as specialist training – enabling the full production cycle of small devices to be carried out in one location.
This event provided a good networking opportunity for all companies involved in the development and manufacture of medical devices, and to see the facilities available at CECA that can be used by local industries to speed up the development of new medical devices and innovative manufacturing processes. |
