World leading academics and engineers working together to boost the competitiveness of UK manufacturing
The world class universities of Loughborough, Nottingham and Sheffield have joined forces to set up the pioneering Centre of Excellence in customised Assembly (CECA).

CECA is an excellent example of world leading academics and engineers working together to help boost the competitiveness of UK manufacturing. CECA is an industry driven facility to assist the adoption of new technologies to reduce assembly times and costs, whilst improving quality and productivity. It supports companies to move up the value added chain to more knowledge-intensive, high-skilled manufacturing, promoting new manufacturing practices that contribute to long-term sustainability.

CECA received a £4.8 million grant from the Higher Education Innovation Fund (HEIF), to set up this new industry-focussed centre to develop leading edge assembly technologies. The HEIF fund helps build closer ties between business and higher education institutions, helping turn ideas into enterprise.

Collectively the three universities have established relationships with major aerospace, pharmaceutical and automotive companies, and a record of excellence in manufacturing research.

A team of three Academic Directors provide a strong management team; bring a wealth of academic expertise and extensive experience of accelerating potential exploitation routes to industry.
